Sunset and Sunrise

Some photos from Sunset the day before yesterday and sunrise yesterday morning.

Sunset, August 28, 2016, 7:39 PM.

Left.

Centre.

Right.
The setting sun has created an effect in the clouds that make them appear to be self-illuminating.

Sunrise, August 29, 2016, 6:44 AM.

Left.

Centre.

Right and at an angle to catch the overhead.
The sunlight is leaking through the breaks in the clouds, even if the Sun hasn't peeked above the horizon yet, and the red sunbeams are hitting the overhead clouds giving a wicked awesome effect to the uneven side of the overcast.

Tropical Disturbance 99-L

This thing is out in the Carribbean now but it has South Florida over open sights and its further destination is anywhere between Apalachicola FL to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Source: Weather Underground.
Southern Louisiana in the Baton Rouge area is a mess right now from the epic thousand-year floods just a couple of weekends ago.  Some rivers are still above flood stage, which means a tropical storm or a hurricane could really F things up over there. Here in New Orleans the ground is completely sogged. We had a tropical monsoon just like they have in South Florida yesterday afternoon and some of the flood puddles have yet to completely disappear, which means we might get some bad flooding, too, especially where the water backs up from street drains or if the pump houses lose their power. The NWS is predicting four to eight inches of rain from this thing both in South Florida and along the Gulf Coast. It may be worse! After all, that 30 inches of rain in Baton Rouge wasn't exactly predicted (yeah, the NWS predicted wicked heavy rains up to two feet appropriate to a five-hundred-year storm but the deluge exceeded that even).

Some Photos from the Evening of August 6th.

Taken at 7:38 PM.
In this photo, the Sun appears to be trying to peek between the two banks of cumulonimbus (thunderstorm) clouds. But the cloudbanks overlap each other and the high cirrus clouds at the top of the other clouds is catching all the white light.

Taken at 7:54 PM
This was taken at five minutes past Sunset. The effect of the Sun trying to peek between the clouds has grown a lot fainter. The high cirrus clouds have appeared to have grown, but the cumulonimbus clouds from the right have occluded them.

Taken at 7:55 PM
One minute later. The cumulonimbus clouds have grown just a bit.

Weird Cloud Yesterday just before Sunset.

Photo taken July 29, 2016 at 7:30 PM

It's at the middle of the photograph, right above the electric wires. It kind of looks like a cross between a bunch of cigars and a zeppelin!

What I don't like about Blogger's software is the fact that they cut off the sides of the vid!

Some Photos I Took in the Past Few Days.

The photos are of clouds that look weird or put the sun in weird places or both.

Taken June 29, 2016 at 6:38 PM
Sun looks like it's in the north-northwest.

Taken at the same day and time.
The Sun is supposed to be above, inline with the tree.

Taken same day at 7:55 PM just before Sunset.
Sunlight appears in the northwest to northeast, across the sky.

Taken same day at 8:18 PM, quarter hour after Sunset.
Note the pink light behind the cloud off to the northeast.

Same day, same time.
The Sun appears to be in the northwest!

Same day, same time.
Here's where the Sun is supposed to have set -- behind the big tree!

Taken July 1, 2016 at 8:27 PM Just after Sunset.
These clouds are weird -- they look like they are formed from passenger jet chemtrails!

Same day, two minutes later.
There's this white and grey cloud in front of a pink sky!
It was very pale blue with grey margins about five minutes before!
(Couldn't get a good photo of that -- iPhone camera and window screen in the way)

6 Feet of SLR on the Northern Gulf Coast means New Orleans will be surrounded by water.

Not as bad as South Florida, though.

High Tide flooding on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Hallandale Beach where 7 out of 8 wells are contaminated with seawater.
Source: climatecentral.org.
With just 6 feet of SLR, much or all of THAT place, will be utterly destroyed or made unlivable even if no hurricane or tropical storm hits it. Because of the porous limestone bedrock that's right at the surface, the rising seas will invade the Biscayne Aquifer, depriving the area of its drinking water. Already SEVEN out of EIGHT wells in Hallandale Beach have been invaded by salt water. (Click  here.)

Sea-Level Rise and coastal flooding impacts at 6 feet of SLR in South Florida.
The Everglades and Broward are gone. Miami-Dade is unlivable. Source: NOAA via blog.ucsusa.org..
And with a 10-foot SLR Miami Beach is inundated. Miami-Dade is utterly destroyed.
I guess the elevated Metrorail will become a scenic electric railway, accessible by boat!

The Universe Knows!

A compilation of the strangeness of our atmosphere in the past few years, especially UFOs. Don't know what they are, but the most likely source is our military-industrial complex. After that, inanimate celestial objects, etc. Swamp gas (methane = CH4) cannot be the "explanation" for UFOs these days, but it is a good explanation for some of these weird noctilucent clouds, sometimes on the surface, that have a strange puke yellow or puke green glow that is brightest at the center and fades from center out.

And here's a vid I made last night. Posted under my YouTube pseudonym, PfctvsPontivsPilatvs.

Strange Cirrus Clouds...

Taken near sunset, March 28th, 2016.  The cirrus clouds are bunching up in clumps, becoming thickerer towards the westerly sun.

The video clip is turned sideways due to a computer glitch.
There's no way I can fix it because of other computer glitches! Arrrrgh!!!!

March 18, 2016 Is Strange.

Cloud shaped like a Star Wars "Star Destroyer" (the big mile-long white ship that first appeared in the first scene of the first film, chasing a tiny space vessel.

Caught on video here in "East Broadmoor," New Orleans, La.
